Simplified accounting: categories, manual entries and period lock
How Boyoti's lightweight ledger works and how to export to your accountant.
Requires permission
agency.accounting.recordBoyoti is not a general ledger — it is a cash-based operational book that is accurate enough for owner statements, VAT returns and management reporting, and exports cleanly to Xero/QuickBooks/Excel for formal accounts.
- Categories (Settings → Accounting): income categories (rent, fees, commission…) and expense categories (repairs, utilities, salaries…). Every transaction has one.
- Manual money in / out: record income or expenses that don't come from an invoice or expense claim (bank interest, bank charges, owner contributions).
- Lock date: once a month is reviewed, lock it. Transactions before the lock date cannot be created, edited or voided without the agency.accounting.close permission.
- Exports: Reports → Accounting → export journal (CSV/Excel) with dates, accounts, categories, VAT and references.
Lock the previous month on the day you send owner statements — it guarantees the statements can be reproduced later.
